Spring '19 Mini Camps
Spring Pitching and Catching Instructional Camps
Quality Pitching and Catching are at the backbone of every good baseball team. The ability to throw strikes and block baseballs are fundamental skills every youth baseball player should continue to refine. In this instructional camp, pitchers will learn to command the strike zone efficiently and effectively. Catchers will develop the ability to frame and block baseballs. Catchers will also learn how to throw out those pesky base-stealers.
Instructors Travis Thompson and Mike Thrun will be leading these Spring tune up camps. Travis has succeeded across all levels of the game and brings his expertise in pitching and catching to PTA. After a successful college career, he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and spent eight years playing on their team. He later played for the Florida Marlins. Mike has 15 years of playing experience and 10 years as a coach. Throughout his career, he earned three WIAC Conference Tournament Championship titles, 3 Regional Championship titles, trips to the 2006 and 2007 World Series, UWSP’s record for most strikeouts in a game and First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Midwest-Region in 2008.
Spring Training begins March 25 and runs for four weeks through April 21.
